Project Scope

Description

The I-5 North Coast Corridor San Elijo Lagoon Improvement Project is a design-build project involving the design and construction of three separate bridges. The main bridge replacement involves designing and constructing a 6 lane highway bridge include a HOV lane. The two dars, straight and curved, are to be design and constructed to support 3 lanes including a HOV lane. The pedestrian bridge is to be constructed to allow pedestrian crossing of the lagoon. This is all done with the natural environment considered. The budget for this project is $200,000,000

Design Development Phase

1. Facilitate meetings with CPP Infrastructure to develop design documents.

​

2. Prepare and submit coordination drawings. Documents include specifications, cost estimate, and schedule. Components include a complete construction staging and demolition, bridge structural layouts and details, and specifications.

3. Bid, obtain, and evaluate at least three candidates for each trade contractor package.

 

4. Summarize bids and present a recommended proposal by performance and payment bond.

5. Respond in writing to all CPP Infrastructure comments.

Construction Services Phase

Construction Service Phase

1. Obtain all state, local approvals and permits.

2. Provide full-time on-site project representation consistent with the work required.

3. Administer all trade contracts.

4. Process and approve all subcontractor payment requests.

5. Review and Coordinate all Shop Drawings, Product Data, etc.

6. Coordinate requests for information from trade Contractors.

7. Schedule Review

8. Submit progress reports of construction activity.

9. Conduct regular progress and coordination meetings by project manager

10. Construction phase updates by VDC (virtual design construction) manager

11. Maintenance of records

12. Establish and monitor project quality control standards.

13. Conduct regular safety audits of the project.

14. Review and recommend action on change order proposals.

15. Coordinate all third-party providers.

16. Coordinate Project Turnover and Completion.

17. As-Built information documents.

18. Project Closeout: prepare all project documents for archiving.

19. Project Completion: Construction phase services shall conclude approximately one (1) month following contract document final completion and acceptance of the project work.

                           Project Understanding                         

The I-5 North Coast Corridor San Elijo Lagoon Improvement project is to construct three separate bridges: A main bridge replacement involving a 6 lane highway bridge including a HOV lane, a straight and curved overpass to support 3 lanes including a HOV lane, and a pedestrian bridge to allow pedestrian crossing of the lagoon to the Solana Hills Hiking Trail.

This project will increase the flow of traffic and provide an aesthetic for the commuters for the city of San Diego.
